ATR - Day 72: Went to a flea market in Goa and talked about tigers with friends

Another rest day in Goa. We went to the flea market and did some shopping and talked about tigers with friends. And also visited a nightclub for a short while (didn’t like the experience much).

Since we had returned home late at night, we got up late in the day, which was also because we didn’t have to get up early for our usual morning safari. These few days we have taken out as rest days to unwind as well as to contemplate and calibrate our ATR operational strategy based upon our experience on the tour so far. 

So in the afternoon, we had a discussion among the members of both the on-site and off-site ATR teams with regard to the tour so far and what needs to be done to maintain a better audiovisual record of the travel and how to present it better to our audience, going forward.

Later in the afternoon, we went to the Anjuna Flea Market to get some casual things to complete our Goa experience. Two of my close friends are visiting me here in Goa; so it was fun shopping for random things, including some casual clothes, with them.

We returned to the villa we are staying at after the shopping, and I worked on today’s Vlog with the editor while both of my friends went to get ready for the evening. Also, we did some at-home cooking, and I tried my hands at making chapattis, which went about as well as I had expected. 

We had decided to pay a visit to a nightclub just to experience a Goan nightclub even though I know fully well that I am not a nightclub person. Which kind of makes sense because one has to be particularly fluid and adaptable to enjoy both nightclubs and wildlife, for they are mutually divergent in nearly all ways one can think of. But one of the two friends likes them, so the remaining three of us decided to go along for the experience and it wasn’t bad even though we returned shortly after midnight, which was about the time the nightclub was beginning to come into its own. But by that time we had had our fill of the experience. Nightclubs are not our thing, as I knew from the start. So we decided to drive around a bit before returning to our place of stay.

But right when we were about to leave for the nightclub, we had a fun discussion about tigers and their behaviour, and then there were several tiger incidents we talked about, some I had experienced and others that I have got to know over the years from other people. 

In today’s Vlog, we visit Sahyadri and go on a safari in a Mahindra and Mahindra’s Commander before we left for Goa on December 9, 2023.
